Plot[]
Benton is forced to take the blame for the botched surgery until Morgenstern makes a shocking revelation. Alison Beaumont is back after being injured in a fire.
Carter deals with life without his family's financial support. Jeanie helps Anspaugh through a difficult day. Ross counsels a family about their injured, pregnant daughter's treatment and their shunning of her boyfriend.

MORAL JUDGMENTS: While treating expectant mothers injured in the bombing of a women's clinic, Dr. Del Amico (Maria Bello) is surprised by her reaction to a particularly difficult case.
Dr. Ross (George Clooney) counsels a distraught family on the best treatment for their injured daughter.
Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) searches for a solution to his new financial problems while trying to help a victim of elder abuse.
Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle) takes the heat for a botched surgery, then goes to heroic lengths to save a critically injured man.

Short summary[]
Following the incident in the OR, Dr. Morgenstern and Dr. Benton present the case to their colleagues. As a result, Peter Benton finds himself suspended for insubordination pending a full inquiry. Jeanie attends Scott Anspaugh's funeral and has some information to share with the boy's father. Anna Del Amico finds herself ethically unable to perform an abortion and is taken to task by Dr. Weaver. John Carter gets the hospital to take legal guardianship of a patient he feels has been subjected to elder abuse, but subsequently doubts that he made the right decision.
